This bronze (Alpaca) sculpture with a silver patina was conceived by Alicia Penalba in 1981/1982 and cast in an edition of 8 by Da Prato, Italy.

An esquisse is a first, usually rough, sketch of a picture or model of a sculpture.

Alpaca is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper, nickel, and sometimes zinc. The name "Alpaca" is commonly used in South America, where it’s associated with traditional craftwork. It derives from the German trademark Alpacca coined in the 19th century by manufacturers.
